The New â€‹Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K!

Picture
During the NAB 2018, Blackmagic launched the new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K! Although not any more so pocket this is an innovation in the mirrorless arena and a major upgrade from the previous camera!

What do I like about it?
It shoots 4K 60 fps and 120 fps in HD windowed.
The Dynamic range which surpasses that of a DSLR.
It uses Blackmagic Colour Science 4
For storage, it uses both SD UHS-II card and CFast cards but it also has a USB Type-C for external drive recording, software updates and media download as well!
Picture
Very Low Light ISO up to 25,600 for HDR images
Audio connections apart from the normal mini jack for mic input and a headphone jack it has a mini XLR analogue switchable between mic with phantom power support and line level (up to +14dBu)!
Picture
Codecs. No H.264 like in DSLR but you can record to CinemaDNG RAW, CinemaDNG RAW 3:1, CinemaDNG RAW 4:1, ProRes 422 HQ QuickTime, ProRes 422 QuickTime, ProRes 422 LT QuickTime, ProRes 422 Proxy QuickTime!

The full HD  5" LCD capacitive touchscreen monitor is great although it is fixed! (but the camera has Bluetooth connection so..)
Camera Price
$1,295 which makes it very competitive and did I mention you will get a free copy of the new DaVinci Resolve Studio worth $299!
( by the way it also shoots photos!)

DaVinci Resolve 15 is Out! The contender of Autodesk Smoke?

Will this be the ultimate post production finishing tool?

Picture
Blackmagic Design has just launched DaVinci Resolve 15. Apart from all the upgrades done to improve workflow and stability, the one big major thing in my humble opinion is the integration of Fusion into Resolve!

 What does this mean?
Gone is the need for round-tripping between applications between Editing and VFX! the only application in the industry that could do this was Autodesk Smoke! Autodesk Smoke has long been the defacto standard as a finishing tool which incorporated Editing, Color grading, motion graphics, VFX, 3D, and delivery all in one package! In fact, is used by major studios to finish films and episodes of major studios and also comes with a major studio price tag.
DaVinci Resolve has the same array of tools now in one package!
Picture
It has Fusion built in the same way they have integrated Fairlight (the Audio Package) in the tabs on the lower part of the application.
And the most important thing.....
it is free limiting some features and a full studio package for a mere $299!
There is no more an excuse to start creating......

I think today Unreal together with Nvidia and ILMxLab have set up another milestone in the realm of digital motion graphics for movies. In a public demonstration called “State of Unreal” today at GDC they unveiled for the first time ever a real-time full motion ray-tracing clip in Unreal Engine. This is considered by most to be the holy grail for those creating high-end cinematic imagery! Watch the clip
